Personal statement on why the candidate supports CalATMA:

I have joined and support CalATMA for several reasons. Our profession desperately needs a unified voice in the legislative arena; CalATMA has been formed specifically to do that. I view CalATMA as an opportunity to support each other with initiativesin the following areas: stronger education and training, mentoring programs, advocating in the insurance arena, expandingscope of practice, public relations, educating the public and the modern medical system, among many others.

Another important area is to help ensure our professional and cultural diversity be a strength, not a weakness. Historically, our professional and cultural diversity has caused divide among us and we need to work to support and celebrate this diversity while finding a common identity to bring us together as a profession. I support CalATMA because I see this organization as the best opportunityto support diversity while uniting us, and to protect and promote the profession.

Personal statement on why the candidate wants to serve on the Board of Trustees:

I would like to serve on the Board of Trustees because I am excited about the direction this organization is going and want to servethe profession. As membership committee chair, talking with acupuncturists, members of the acupuncture profession, and inthe industry has showed me how much the profession wants and needs a united voice for the profession. I believe my current role in conjunction with the CalATMA Steering Committee would allow me to help ensure a smooth transition to the inaugural Board of Trustees in December; this includes ongoing relationships with CEU providers, representatives of other associations, acupuncturists, and industry members. Finally, my experience working in the San Diego Unified School District in negotiating contracts, MOUs, and establishing new businesses and programs makes me a good candidate for fulfilling an important role on the inaugural Board as we work to establish CalATMA both in the short term and to ensure it's sustainability in the future.

See attachment please.

Personal statement on why the candidate supports CalATMA:

Governor Brown signed SB 86 in 1975, legalizing the practice of acupuncture in California. At that time, he hoped there would be a unified TCM organization. Over 40 years already passed, and it is time to finally unify under one statewide association. Under one voice, we would have more success in protect consumers & our profession and achieving better legislative success.

Personal statement on why the candidate wants to serve on the Board of Trustees:

There are almost 12,000 acupuncturist practicing in California, however over 80% have not joined an organization. As a board member, I will help recruit and attract practitioners without an organization to join CalATMA, furthermore, I want to assist in improving th continue education and work ethic, which will better protect consumers; increasing insurance coverage of service for the members.
