The second Board of Trustees meeting was conducted on Sunday, February 17, 2019 in person at Alhambra Medical University 215 W. Mission Rd, room #2, Alhambra, CA 91803 from 11:00am to 6:00pm and was focused on strategic planning and long-term organizational goals.

The first meeting of the inaugural Board of Trustees was conducted on Sunday, January 27, 2019 via Zoom web-conferencing to affect the transition from the Steering Committee to the Inaugural Board of Trustees. Trustees took the opportunity to introduce themselves, review policies created by the Steering Committee, and begin planning for the coming year.

首屆董事會第一次會議於2019年1月27日星期日,以Zoom網絡會議的形式召開,籌備委員會順利的過渡到首屆董事會。會議開始,各位董事會成員做了自我介紹,溫習了籌備委員會制定的一些工作方針,並開始籌劃今年的工作方向。

첫 이사회의 첫 번째 회의는 2019년 1월 27일 일요일 운영위원회에서 첫 이사회로 인계를 위한 Zoom 화상회의를 가졌습니다. 이사진은 서로에 대한 소개시간을 가졌고 운영위원회가 지정한 정책을 검토하며 다가오는 해에 대한 계획을 세우기 시작했습니다.

As required by CalATMA bylaws, this notice is to inform you of the inaugural Board of Trustees elections on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 1:00 – 2:30 pm at multiple locations.

Every CalATMA professional, lifetime, and student member in good standing by November 30, 2018 (membership dues paid) is eligible to vote in the Board of Trustees inaugural election on December 9, 2018, Further, every CalATMA professional, lifetime, and student member in good standing by November 30, 2018 is eligible to run in the inaugural election on December 9, 2018 to the Board to Trustees.

For those interested in running for the Board of Trustees, an application may be submitted by mail to: 1017 L Street PMB 783, Sacramento, CA 95814, or by e-mail to: calatma@gmail.com. Board of Trustee Candidacy applications may be downloaded below.

All applications for CalATMA Board of Trustee candidates must be received by the CalATMA Nominating Committee no later than November 9, 2018 for the candidate to be eligible for the inaugural election. Applications received after the November 9, 2018 deadline will not be considered.

CalATMA bylaws govern the election and Board of Trustees composition:

Section 1. 

Powers. There shall be a Board of Trustees (the “Board”) of the Association, which shall supervise and control the business, property, and affairs of the Association, except as otherwise expressly provided by law, the Certificate of Formation of the Corporation, or these Bylaws.

Section 2. 

Number and Qualifications. The members of the initial Board of Trustees of the Association shall be those individuals on the appointed Steering Committee as of June 2018 and shall serve until their successors are elected and qualified. Thereafter, the Board of Trustees of the Association shall be composed of ten members and one student representative member. The Chief Executive Officer is an ex officio non-voting member of the Board.

Section 3. 

Election and Term of Office. The members of the Board of Trustees shall be elected by the members at a Regular Annual Meeting of the Association. Electronic voting may be used, if authorized by a majority vote of the members.  Members of the Board of Trustees shall serve for two years with a limit of two terms. Former Trustees may be elected for a third term after being off of the Board for two years, at a minimum.  The student representative member shall serve for two years with a limit of one term. The Board of Trustees shall determine and set forth in separate documents election qualifications and procedures.

Election procedures for the inaugural election on December 9, 2018, defined by the CalATMA Elections Committee, are listed below:

  • Every professional, lifetime, and student member in good standing is eligible to vote and run for the Board of Trustees.

  • If an individual is not current in payment of their dues by November 30, 2018, they are ineligible to vote for or run in the inaugural election for the Board of Trustees on December 9, 2018; the inaugural Board of Trustees shall be comprised of ten licensed acupuncturists and one student representative.

  • An application has been made available for eligible members who wish to run for the Board of Trustees. The application to run for a Board of Trustees position in the inaugural election must be received by CalATMA by November 9, 2018 for the candidate to be eligible. Every eligible member who submits an application which is received by the due date of November 9, 2018 will be put on the ballot to ensure democracy, transparency, and inclusiveness.

  • The names and applications of eligible candidates for the Board of Trustees will be distributed in advance to all members so they can learn more about the candidates, to help inform voting decisions.

  • Eligible members will vote on the Board of Trustees at the various election sites

  • L.Ac.s may only vote for the L.Ac. trustee positions and the students may only vote for the student position.

  • Because there are currently ten vacant L.Ac. trustee positions, each L.Ac. member may cast up to ten votes, with a maximum of one vote applied per individual candidate, to be divided among the slate of nominees on the ballot. Write in votes are not permissible as all eligible inaugural Board of Trustees candidates will be listed on the ballot. If there are more than ten L.Ac.s running for the Board of Trustees, the 10 eligible candidates who receive the most overall votes are elected.

  • Each student member is allowed one vote for the single student trustee position. The top vote getter is elected.

  • In the event of a tie vote for the tenth L.Ac. trustee position or student position, there will immediately be a runoff election with each member getting one vote to cast for the remaining position.
